Mary H. Nicholson Annual Scholarship Banquet 

The Banquet theme, “Building Strong Families to Empower the Community” was inspired by the life and work of Mary Nicholson, who touched the lives of countless young and older people in the Greater Springfield Community through her foster parenting, teaching, mentoring, friendship and love.  We take this opportunity to celebrate the life of Mary, and to support the work of our Strengthening Families Program. 

The Strengthening Families model has proven to be highly effective in preventing substance use and behavioral problems in children, and enhancing parenting and relationship skills in parents, by bringing groups of families together to learn from each other over an 8 week structured process.

Proceeds for the banquet will benefit the Strengthening Families program and provide scholarship monies for student studying the social work field in college. Applications are available on line.
