SERVICES
Mentoring Program

Purpose

Promote, encourage, and support mentoring for offenders returning home and others in recovery.


Engage faith communities and community-based organizations in supporting mentoring


Reduce recidivism and prevent relapse into substance abuse


Assist and support offenders returning home n community re-integration


Activities

Recruit, train, match and support mentors (one-year commitment)


Distribute and collect applications for mentoring


Recruit and prepare offenders desiring mentors in collaboration with Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and After Incarceration Support  Services


Conduct mentor training and matches in collaboration with Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and After Incarceration Support  Services


Conduct mentor support meetings (monthly)


Coordinate weekly support meetings for mentees (community –based, with or without mentors)

 
Strengthening Families and Family Reunification

Purpose

Provide support and a guidance for ex-offenders an persons in recovery as parents an partners


Nurture skills for communication, relationship-building, problem solving and conflict resolution


Enhance resilience of children of parents who are returning from incarceration or recovery


Promote and assist in family re-unification for families involved in child welfare system


Provide ongoing facilitator training and leadership development for persons and organizations


Activities

Conduct formal strengthening families programs in vulnerable communities


Provide ongoing family support for parents


Provide leadership/facilitator training and Strengthening Families model for parents and others

 
Leadership Training and Fellowship for Ex-Offenders

Purpose

Provide ongoing support and guidance for personal growth and development


Equip persons with tools and skills to assist other


Activities

Develop a community of persons in recovery that are equipped to:


Recruit, train and support mentors (particularly mentors who are ex-offenders)


Facilitate Strengthening Family groups and provide family support


Provide coaching for job readiness, job searching, & education /training


Plan and execute recovery support and community development activities and projects


Engage in outreach and mentoring to vulnerable youth
